چکیده
Abstract Ambient seismic noise becomes more and important helpful on assisting velocity model inversion, earthquake detection, ground motion prediction. Based the analysis of continuous data ocean wave height, we find that height winter storms have a controlling factor DF microseismic energy level its frequency extent in time scale. It shows high low accompanied with wide narrow range consistent period (when is stormier) period, respectively. Since microseism dominated by Rayleigh waves, attenuates very quickly when it travels through shoreline to continent crust. Our observations give quality Q about 83 for traveling from middle Atlantic central Europe. We observe lower SPDF (short DF) than LPDF (long stations, however reversed situation island stations. suggests short decays faster long one. High-frequency ambient called microtremor. The microtremor station elevation has semidiurnal modulation phase tide. at other locations are anthropogenic activities which diurnal, weekly, annually variations.

SUMMARY By cross-correlating recordings of ambient seismic noise, one can retrieve the subsurface reflection response. The quality of the retrieved reflections would depend on the qualities of the ambient noise. In a previous study, we cross-correlated ambient-noise data recorded in a desert area in North Africa and showed that we retrieved reflections. This was done assuming that body-wave noi...

متن کاملFundamental and higher-mode Rayleigh wave characteristics of ambient seismic noise in New Zealand
[1] In order to use ambient seismic noise for mapping Earth’s structure, it is important to understand the spatiotemporal characteristics of the noise field. This study uses data collected during four austral winter months of 2002 to investigate New Zealand’s ambient seismic noise field in the double-ocean-wave-frequency range (0.1–0.3 Hz). It is shown via beamforming analysis that there are tw...
